Edwardian Light Oak Barley Twist Occasional Table, c.1910
Edwardian Light Oak Barley Twist Occasional Table, c.1910
A charming Edwardian occasional table in light oak with beautifully turned barley‑twist legs and a box‑stretcher base. The rectangular top is made from three planks with a scalloped moulded edge and attractive quarter‑sawn figuring.
Underneath are handwritten notes from a previous owner recording light restoration in 1980—an appealing bit of provenance.
Perfect as a lamp or side table, a neat hall table, or a plant stand that brings warmth and texture to any room.
Condition: Good antique order with the solid joints you want. Light age marks as expected; the top was sympathetically refinished in the late 20th century and presents well.
Origin: England
Time Period: Edwardian (1901 to 1910)
Historical Context
Historical Context
English, Jacobean Revival taste that was popular from late Victorian through the Edwardian period.
Handwritten blocks under the top read “Already old when bought in 1979. Cleaned & re‑polished by Margery Allen 1980. Re‑assembled by Brother Victor.” These are owner/restorer notes (not maker’s marks) and provide a nice story of care and light restoration around 1980.
