Historical Context
Historical Context
In the 17th–18th century, workshops in Flanders and Northern France produced dense oak reliefs of winged cherub heads and putti for church fittings and for high-status domestic cabinetry. The acanthus cartouches and musician putti are standard Baroque iconography.
