Vintage Ironbridge Jackfield Pottery Drip‑Glaze Bulbous Jug, c.1970s–90s
Bring a touch of Shropshire pottery heritage to your home with this impressive Ironbridge Jackfield bulbous jug, dating from around the 1970s–1990s.
Thrown in warm terracotta clay, the generous spherical body sits on a neat circular foot and rises to a sculptural collar with beak‑shaped spout and sweeping loop handle. The lower body is finished in a deep, almost mirror‑black glaze, while the neck and handle carry a beautiful blue and white drip‑glaze that cascades down the shoulder in a lava‑like pattern.
The jug reflects the long tradition of Jackfield’s famous black‑glazed ware, re‑imagined for the late‑20th‑century revival period around the Ironbridge Gorge Museums. It’s a wonderful crossover piece: part industrial‑heritage souvenir, part bold modernist statement.
